Dear Parents,
We want to welcome you to another year of
Junior Wrestling in Goddard. We appreciate your participation
and that of your children.
Junior Wrestling is a fun sport that
will require a lot of time from parents, coaches, and wrestlers.
Our practices will be on Monday, Tuesday,
and Thursday nights from 6:00 – 7:00 for Beginners and 6:30 –
8:00 for Experienced. Practice is in the upstairs gym in-between
the Challenger and Discovery Intermediate schools. (Same place
as last year) Enter through the West side {back} of the
school. First practice night will be Monday, October 29th
for the experienced group and Monday, November 12th
the beginners. The first tournament we will participate in is
Ark City on December 8th, 2007. Then there will be
tournaments available to sign up for each week after that.
On January 12th, 2008 we will
host our own tournament at the Goddard High School. Everyone
will be required to help run the tournament, no
exceptions. We will also help run the Park City – Wichita
Classic at the Kansas coliseum on 03/08/08. Everyone will be
required to help run this tournament as well, no exceptions.
There is a bulletin board upstairs in the
practice gym. I will post Sign-up Material, Money Due,
Tournament Info, Win / Loss Records, the Practice Schedule and
Important Announcements. This will be the place to find ALL the
information you need. Please come up to the gym at least once a
week to sign your child up for tournaments and to see if there
is any new information posted. It is important that you
sign your child up on time so that we can get all of the
wrestlers entered for the upcoming tournaments.
We want your wrestler to have a safe and
fun year of wrestling. Therefore, we request that you escort
your child inside the building and pick them up inside after
practice. NO WRESTLER will be allowed to go outside without a
parent or and adult, designated by a parent. PLEASE, be prompt
to pick your child up following practice. (Please remember, the
coaches have children that they also need to get home to bed.
Please be considerate of that by being prompt). If you need to
make arrangements with another parent to bring your child home,
you must do so ahead of time.
In the past, we have used the following
for tournament sign-ups, and it has worked well. For now, we
will continue with this format.

Each week I will post at least one
new sign-up sheet on the bulletin board for the upcoming
tournaments. Tournament flyers will be available for each
tournament. You can also find the flyers on the website.

On the sign-up sheets parents
will need to include their children’s weight they intend to
wrestle at (NOT their actual weight). The age group
they intend to wrestle at (NOT their actual age) and
make payments in full. Please make checks payable to
GWC. Also, make sure of your wrestler’s weight and
let us know of any increase or decrease. We will have
digital scales available at each practice.

If we do not receive payment at the
time of sign-ups, your child will not be entered into that
tournament.

The club, GWC, will gather all of
the entries and then write one check to enter all of our
wrestlers into that week’s tournament.
Payment is final on all tournaments you
sign up for. Each club has a different deadline for sign-ups;
once that deadline date has arrived and I have submitted our
entries, I can not change weights or make refunds. Please make
sure when you sign your child up for a tournament you write the
information down correctly. If you enter your child in a
tournament and write their entry information down incorrectly I
will move them up to next weight class if I am unable to contact
you.
There will be a tournament available to
sign up for every weekend; you don’t have to go to them all.
It is very
important that we receive payments for tournament entries when
you sign your child up. We want everyone who wants to compete
in a tournament to have the opportunity. Due to past issues, we
will not take late entries and we will instruct other club
tournament directors NOT to take any late or individual
entries. IF the entries do not come in from us as a group, we
will ask the other club directors to turn your entry down.
